In Japan, there are songs, nursery rhymes and Japanese songs besides traditional music, but the songs compiled here are "the Japanese favourites" which came out after 1945.
Many arrangements were made of popular songs from the radio, Minnanouta (Everyone's Songs) by NHK (Japan Broadcasting Corporation), and good old songs that were sung in two parts chorus at secondary schools.
There was a rush of choirs and these are music from such times when people sang whenever they got together. They may not be suitable for contests, but please feel free to hum together with friends not only at concerts. A fresh delight is bound to be enjoyed anew.
